Karen’s Liposuction Experience Story

Being more confident in my looks makes everything better…

I can’t remember the first time I considered liposuction, but I can remember not liking my midsection since high school. In high school I felt like my body was too boxy, but over time, I gained curves. Unfortunately, the curves were a pretty defined ‘muffin top’ which I was very unhappy with.

I tried to diet, but it seemed like I would lose weight in every other part of my body and still have this shape. What’s more, I thought the rest of my body was appropriately sized – it was just my midsection that I was unhappy with. I could not buy the clothes I liked, from a style perspective, because with everything I bought I was just trying to hide or minimize the appearance of my midsection. I tried diet and exercise for years and was never satisfied with the results.

I was driving into town one night, thinking about how unhappy I was about my body, when I decided to look into liposuction. I just felt like I had spent enough of my life not being happy with my body. At a stoplight I Googled ‘liposuction prices’ to get an idea if surgery was even something I could afford, and I saw some average prices that made it seem accessible.

The next day, I made an appointment with Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery Specialists. I was already getting Botox and filler done there, and I was very comfortable with the results being achieved with those procedures; so I had a high level of trust in them.

Dr. Dembny took a look at the areas I was displeased with, and made some recommendations. I was very happy with the price I was quoted, and I set up the procedure with them.

The day of my procedure I did not know what to expect. But it was the best experience I ever had in a hospital. Everyone was very helpful and attentive, and they paid attention to details like giving me pneumatic compression devices for the circulation in my legs, and some sort of warmer that fed warm air into the bed. It was so relaxing I fell asleep prior to the anesthesia!

When I woke up, it hurt terribly. My best friend came and picked me up from the hospital, helped me get the prescribed pain killers, and took me to her house to recover. It hurt so badly that I could not stand up straight, but I was in a good mood because I was really excited to see what it would look like when I healed.

Surgery was on a Friday and I went back to work Monday, which is not necessarily recommended. There was some pain, but I was able to make it without taking any additional time off.

A couple of weeks into the recovery, I still had this protruding, hard belly, which I could best describe as an ‘ant belly’.  I Googled, and Googled, and I could not find other people that had experienced this result; and I became really nervous about how the results were going to look (hopefully not like this)! This extended belly was so large, the pants I wore prior to the surgery were too tight.

I emailed Dr. Dembny my concerns, and he was very responsive, and suggested I come in. He alleviated a lot of my fears, and a couple weeks later the results looked great.

I am so happy with the results. I wear the clothes I like now, and even the clothes I already had (prior to the procedure) seem brand new, because the way they fit me is so different. Being more confident in my looks makes everything better – shopping, swimming, dating, even vacations. The only thing I would change is that I wish I would have done it sooner!
